You are not a random mix of quirks, traits, and tendencies. You were wonderfully made—intentionally, intricately, and purposefully knit together by a God who doesn’t make mistakes.
I didn’t always believe that.
For a long time, I lived outward-in. I tried to measure up, blend in, and behave like the kind of woman I thought God—and others—would approve of. But it wasn’t until I began a journey inward that I experienced what I can only describe as freedom. I began discovering the me that God had designed from the beginning.
It didn’t happen overnight. But with tools like the Enneagram and DISC, I finally had language to explain what I felt deep inside: I had been wired in a specific way—on purpose and for purpose.
The Inside-Out Journey
We often chase change by focusing on what people can see: our habits, our schedule, our tone, our posture. But God is after our hearts first. Wholeness, I’ve discovered, begins on the inside.
Psalm 139:13–14 reminds us:
“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!”
Wonderfully complex. That phrase comforts me.
My self-discovery journey helped me stop trying to be “simpler” or “easier” to understand and instead embrace how deeply known I already was by God. He wasn't confused by my inner contradictions or how I responded to life. He built me that way. And once I aligned with that truth, I could finally let go. Trust replaced striving. Surrender replaced shame.
So, how do we start this kind of transformation?
Let’s look at two simple, powerful tools that help reveal what God already knows about us:
Enneagram Insight: Who am I beneath the surface?
The Enneagram helps you explore why you think, feel, and act the way you do. It’s less about labels and more about uncovering your core motivation—the deep desire and fear that shapes how you relate to God, yourself, and others.
Are you driven to help others to feel loved (Type 2)?
Do you seek success to feel worthy (Type 3)?
Are you always scanning for what's missing or broken (Type 4)?
Each type has a unique beauty and a shadow side. The Enneagram gently guides you toward self-awareness, compassion, and transformation—not so you can “fix” yourself, but so you can bring your whole self before God.
DISC Insight: How do I show up in the world?
While the Enneagram uncovers internal wiring, the DISC model shines light on your external behavior—how you communicate, make decisions, and respond to pressure.
Are you a driven, results-oriented leader (D)?
A people-focused encourager (I)?
A steady, dependable listener (S)?
A detail-oriented, process-loving thinker (C)?
DISC helps you recognize the strengths in how you’re naturally wired, while also giving you tools to adapt and grow in your relationships and work.
Three Reflections for Your Own Inside-Out Journey:
Know Your Design. You weren’t made at random. Discovering your personality type is not about boxing yourself in—it’s about naming what’s already there so you can bring it into the light.
Embrace Your Process.Transformation doesn’t mean becoming someone else. It means becoming more whole—more like Christ, through the lens of your unique wiring. God doesn’t erase your personality; He redeems it.
Live from Wholeness, Not for It. You don’t need to earn your way into God’s purpose. Wholeness is a gift that starts with surrender. As you trust Him with the inside, the outside begins to shift naturally.
This is the freedom I’ve found—and it’s what I want for you too. If you’re feeling fragmented or unsure of who you are, start from within. Let God meet you there. Tools like the Enneagram and DISC can help you decode your design, but the Designer Himself is the one who leads you toward lasting peace.
Let’s stop striving to be someone else and start uncovering the person God already sees and loves—wonderfully wired and made for more.
To Wholeness,
M.
